It’s easy and allows people to stay within an allotted budget. Graphic designers are probably less inclined in recommending Word templates, but I really feel like the graphically skilled and the aesthetically challenged may both find Microsoft’s template source quite convenient in certain circumstances. Why would a graphic designer ever recommend Word? Graphic designers have friends and some of them arewelltechnically ignorant. However, that person might have enough ability to play around in Word. Forget Photoshop templates. Graphic designers also have clients that sometimes want to whip up a brochure by the end of the day which likely doesn’t fit into our schedule. That client might have Microsoft Office and can download a quick template themselves. Anywayshere are some flyer, poster, card and brochure templates that actually look pretty good for general purposes. Winter Event Flyer This event flyer template looks easy to edit and has a clean feel to it. Most flyer templates that I personally think look eye-pleasing are clear, simple and concise. This specific color scheme is winter motivated, but other “seasons” are available. As of the date of this post, there have been almost 200,000 downloads demonstrating that many Microsoft Word 2013 users agree. Holiday Event Flyer The holidays have recently passed, but this particular, and popular with almost a half million downloads, flyer template appears festive and sophisticated enough for any business holiday party, Christmas party or winter party. Most people imagine cheesy clip art when thinking “Word templates” and most of those haters will never know this template actually came from Microsoft. With the white border, any home printer, commercial printer or online printer can easily handle this file as long as it is converted to a PDF first. Technology Poster Here is another fine example of a Microsoft Word template that doesn’t look so Microsofty Wordish templated clip artish. This 11×17 (tabloid) business / technology poster is compatible with Word 2003 or later and was created by StockLayouts. Web developers, IT professionals and technical service companies can easily whip up a professional poster/flyer within minutes. Is also available that allows a larger amount of information to be added. Business Brochure This a a pretty generic double-sided brochure template, but still looks good for general marketing purposes. It looks clean and fairly easy to modify. Almost 2 million downloads indicates that entrepreneurs everywhere would agree. Technology Brochure Technology buffs are clearly not always design oriented. ![]() This tri-fold brochure appears professional and “techy” and is easy for industry related business owners and freelancers to display services and products quickly. This template is compatible with Word 2003 or higher and has been downloaded almost 650,000 times. Birthday Card This colorful birthday card or postcard template can be personalized by switching out text and images. Colors, text and photos can be modified in any way making this a nice invitation template for almost any event or occasion. The postcards are 4 x 6 inches and work with Avery 5389, 5889, and 8386. If exported as a high quality PDF, the file can be sent off to any commercial printer. This template is compatible with Word 2013 or higher. Black Flyer I actually passed on this template a few times before deciding it should make it on this list. With an image or two, I can visualize this flyer being implemented by bands, clubs, parties and numerous special events. It’s dark, simple and extremely easy to edit. Downloaded almost 70,000 times, this template is compatible with Word 2013 or higher. Birthday Flyer This 8 x 8 flyer template might work nicely for announcing to the world about a special person’s upcoming birthday party. Fonts and colors can be customized using Word’s built-in themes. Downloaded by almost a half million people, this flyer template is compatible with Word 2007 or later. Business Thank You Card By searching for technology, I found this nice thank you card designed for business purposes. This half-fold card folds to 8.5 x 5.5 (A9 size) and contains a customizable inside greeting. The template works with Avery 3251, 3265, 3378, and 8316. Conclusion Microsoft Word obviously has thousands of templates available. Many of them use clip art and serves a purpose, but there are a handful of well designed templates also available that can be used for a number of personal and professional settings. Conveniently, these templates can be printed on home printers or sent to a commercial printer of choice. ![]() ![]() Simply select and download a free poster templates. Understanding Administrative Templates by, author of In a, I extolled AutoProf Policy Maker as a cool tool for extending the power of Group Policy. The tool lets you do many things that otherwise require a combination of Group Policy and custom scripts, and it also lets you deploy Registry changes to remote machines faster and more easily than by Microsoft's traditional approach of creating custom administrative templates. However, there are some situations where administrative templates are the best or most obvious approach, so let's dig into how they work and see what you can do with them. A quick side note before we get started, though: AutoProf has just changed its company name to, and you can now find info about Policy Maker versions on the page. Administrative templates are a key component of Group Policy on Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003. These templates are Unicode-formatted text files with the extension.adm and are used to create the Administrative Templates portion of the user interface for the Group Policy Object Editor as shown in Figure 1. The Administrative Templates portion of the Group Policy Object Editor interface is created by installed administrative template (.adm) files Using the two Administrative Template sections of the Object Editor, you can deploy modifications to machine ( HKLM) and user ( HKCU) portions of the Registry of computers targeted by your Group Policy Object (GPO). All you need to do is link your GPO to the appropriate site, domain, or organizational unit (OU) and let Group Policy processing do its thing. Note that the administrative templates (.adm files) do not themselves modify the Registries of target computers--all they do is create the GUI elements in the Object Editor that let you configure Registry settings for computers targeted by your GPO. The power of administrative templates becomes obvious in the fact that there are now more than 1,300 different Registry settings you can configure using them. Create a network share on the server and allow everyone read all permissions Create or modify a GPO for deployment In the GPO go to User Configuration> Pref > Windows Settings > Files Right Click Select New (Create several Task for different version of MS Office ) Now set your Source and destination. How Install Microsoft Office 2016 Administrative Templates http://www.ntweekly.com/?p=10088. These settings range from configuring network settings to locking down users' desktops to configuring how Group Policy itself works. To use an administrative template, you first have to install it using the Object Editor; there are several templates installed by default, as we'll see in a moment. You can also download additional templates for some Microsoft applications, and even create your own template from scratch if you need to. Standard Templates The standard administrative templates are found in the%windir% inf folder on your machine, and the ones that are installed by default depend on the operating system version you are using. But first, if you are a Microsoft shop, a whole bunch more templates are available to let you manage business productivity applications on your network using Group Policy. First, let's look at the templates available for Microsoft Office 2003 (see Table 3). These templates are available from the and give you a lot of control over Office applications deployed in a managed environment (that is, a Group Policy environment). • This download includes updated Group Policy Administrative Template files and Office Customization Tool OPA files for use with the 2007 Microsoft Office system programs. Plug the device in to your computer's USB port, and then copy the Works files onto it. • Insert the device into your new computer, and copy the files into a folder, such as Documents. Open Works files in Office Works 6.0 or later If your Works files were saved in Works 6.0 or later, you can open them directly in Office. • In Word, Excel, Word Starter, or Excel Starter, click the File tab, and then click Open. • Go to the folder where the Works files are stored. • In the list of file types (next to the File name box), click All Files (*.*). • Click the Works file that you want to open. • When you save the file, save it in the newer Office format ( Excel Workbook (.xlsx) or Word Document (.docx). So far as I know OpenOffice has never been able to open directly Works Database files. On the other hand, PROVIDED you still have the MS Works program that created those files there are two routes that permit the data to be brought into Base. From the open Works Db file SAVE AS a dBaseIV file. Base can directly link to and access dBase files. The dBase format, however, can be quite strict over field names and field contents so the data may not always be complete. ![]() It is also possible to Save As a.csv file that can be opened in Base, but again my experience has been that certain errors in transmission tend to occur. The more flexible but more complex method is to open the Works Db file in its 'List View' (Shft+f9). Copy All the data and paste into a new OpenOffice Calc spreadsheet. The data will generally copy without errors, but the Field names will not have been included. These should be entered manually by inserting a new row at the top of the Calc sheet and typing the names. The Calc sheet can then be copied and pasted as a new table in a new Base file: the copy and paste process permits you to define each Field Type for this new OpenOffice database. If you no longer have your MS Works program I understand there is a conversion service on the Internet but I have no experience of it. Hopefully another more experienced person will help you. For example see or Search this forum with 'Works WDB'. Thankyou so much for the reply. You're right. I think that's maybe how I opened them in Open Office before, by saving in dBase format. I had thought to do the 'save as' procedure but found that my MSworks 2007 only gives me the option to 'save as'.wdb or.csv or.txt. (no dBase IV or any other option) I will try the.csv procedure and see if that works. I'm trying to get help from my computer manufacturer to find out why MSWorks doesn't give me the other options. Thankyou again for yuour help Pam.
